Dental Examination & Cleaning

Regular dental check-ups are an essential step in maintaining optimal oral health. At Klinik Pergigian Luna, we provide comprehensive examinations that include:

  • Thorough examination of teeth and gum condition
  • Removal of plaque and tartar (scaling)
  • Tooth polishing
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Dental X-ray if needed
  • Dental health advice

We recommend a check-up and cleaning every 6 months to maintain good dental health and catch problems early.

What to Expect

A routine check-up and cleaning is a non-surgical, outpatient visit. Your dentist will visually examine your teeth and gums, may take an X-ray if needed to check for hidden decay, and a hygienist or dentist will scale away plaque and tartar buildup before polishing your teeth. Mild sensitivity or gum tenderness after scaling is normal and settles within a day or two.

Teeth Whitening

Achieve a brighter, more confident smile with our professional teeth whitening treatment. This procedure is safe and effective at removing yellowing and stains from your teeth.

  • In-office teeth whitening
  • LED technology for faster results
  • High-quality whitening gel
  • Noticeable results in a single session
  • Suitable for sensitive teeth

Our teeth whitening treatment can brighten your teeth by several shades in a short time. Results last with proper care.

What to Expect & Aftercare

Before whitening, your dentist will check that your teeth and gums are healthy, since active decay or gum disease should be treated first. Mild, temporary tooth sensitivity during or shortly after the session is common. To help results last, avoid strongly staining food and drink (coffee, tea, red wine, curry, cigarettes) for the first 24-48 hours, and continue regular brushing and check-ups โ€” whitening does not stop new staining or decay from occurring over time.

Braces

Orthodontic treatment to correct uneven teeth alignment, overlapping teeth, or bite problems. We offer various types of braces to suit your needs.

  • Self-Ligating Braces - Latest technology for faster results
  • Clear Aligners - A transparent, removable option
  • Consultation and treatment planning available
  • Installment payment plans available

Treatment duration depends on individual conditions, typically between 12-24 months. We will monitor your progress throughout the treatment.

The Treatment Process

Braces treatment usually starts with a consultation and assessment (including X-rays and impressions) so your dentist can plan the correction needed. Brackets and wires (or a series of clear aligners) are then fitted, followed by regular adjustment visits roughly every 4-6 weeks to gradually move your teeth. Mild discomfort for a few days after fitting or each adjustment is normal. After braces are removed, wearing a retainer as instructed is essential to keep your teeth from shifting back.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are thin layers applied to the front surface of teeth to enhance the appearance of your smile. They are the perfect solution for chipped, gapped, discolored, or uneven teeth.

  • Ceramic Veneer - Durable and natural-looking
  • Composite Veneer - A more affordable option
  • Repairs cracked or chipped teeth
  • Closes gaps between teeth
  • Fixes discolored teeth
  • Complete smile transformation (Smile Makeover)

Veneers can last 10-15 years with proper care. This procedure is minimally invasive and delivers dramatic results.

Care & Longevity

Fitting veneers usually takes a couple of visits: preparing the tooth surface, taking an impression, and then bonding the finished veneer in place. Veneers are not removable and, once placed, a thin layer of the natural tooth surface has usually been prepared, so the decision is generally permanent. To help them last, avoid biting very hard foods or objects (ice, pen caps, opening packets with your teeth) and keep up regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits, as veneers can still chip or the surrounding tooth can still decay.

Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

Root canal treatment is a procedure to save teeth that are infected or severely damaged. This procedure removes the infected pulp and cleans the tooth's root canals.

  • Saves teeth from needing extraction
  • Relieves pain caused by infection
  • Procedure performed with anesthesia for comfort
  • Uses modern tools and techniques
  • High success rate
  • Crown placement after treatment

Don't let a toothache go untreated! Root canal treatment can save your tooth and relieve pain. Come in for an examination right away.

What Happens During Treatment

Root canal treatment is usually completed over one or more visits under local anesthesia. The infected or inflamed pulp is removed, the root canals are cleaned and shaped, then filled and sealed. Because the tooth can be more brittle afterward, a crown is usually recommended to protect it, especially for back teeth used for chewing. Mild soreness for a few days afterward is normal and can generally be managed with the pain relief your dentist advises.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth that grow improperly or become impacted can cause various problems. We provide safe and comfortable wisdom tooth extraction procedures.

  • Assessment with panoramic X-ray
  • Local anesthesia for comfort
  • Procedure performed by experienced doctors
  • Minor surgery for impacted teeth
  • Pain medication and antibiotics
  • Post-surgery care advice

Don't wait until your wisdom teeth cause serious problems. Get an early examination and treatment to avoid complications.

Recovery & Aftercare

Some swelling, mild bruising, and discomfort in the first 2-3 days is normal, especially after a surgical extraction. To support healing: bite gently on gauze to control bleeding, use a cold compress on the cheek for swelling, stick to soft or liquid foods for the first day or two, avoid using a straw or rinsing/spitting forcefully (this can dislodge the healing blood clot and cause a painful "dry socket"), and take any prescribed antibiotics or pain relief as directed. Contact the clinic if pain or swelling worsens instead of improving.

Dentures

Dentures are a prosthetic replacement for missing teeth. We provide a variety of comfortable, natural-looking dentures.

  • Full dentures (Complete Denture)
  • Partial dentures (Partial Denture)
  • Flexible Denture - More comfortable and aesthetic
  • Acrylic Denture - An economical option
  • Precise fabrication and fitting
  • Adjustments for optimal comfort

Quality dentures can restore your chewing function and confidence. Come in for a consultation and we'll recommend a suitable option for you.

Getting Used to Dentures

New dentures typically need an adjustment period โ€” mild soreness, extra saliva, and some difficulty speaking or chewing in the first days or weeks are common while your mouth adapts. Follow-up visits allow the dentist to adjust pressure points for a better fit. Dentures should be removed and cleaned daily, and most people are advised to take them out at night to let the gums rest. Bring them along to regular dental check-ups so their fit and your gum health can be reviewed.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to repair decayed or damaged teeth. We use high-quality filling materials that are safe and long-lasting.

  • Composite Filling - Tooth-colored filling
  • Glass Ionomer - Releases fluoride
  • Quick and comfortable procedure
  • Local anesthesia for comfort
  • Aesthetic and functional results

Don't let a cavity get worse. Early treatment can prevent more serious and costly problems down the road.

What to Expect

A filling is usually completed in a single visit. The decayed part of the tooth is removed, the area is cleaned, and the filling material is placed and shaped to restore the tooth. With local anesthesia, the area will feel numb for a couple of hours afterward โ€” avoid chewing on that side until the numbness wears off to prevent accidentally biting your cheek or tongue. Mild sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure for a few days is normal and usually settles on its own.

Crown & Bridge

Crowns and bridges are solutions for severely damaged or missing teeth. They restore the function and appearance of your teeth.

  • Metal Crown - Extremely durable
  • Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM)
  • Zirconia Crown - Modern and aesthetic
  • Bridge to replace missing teeth
  • Fabricated with precision technology

Quality crowns and bridges can last for years with proper care. They are an investment in your long-term dental health.

The Process

Getting a crown or bridge typically takes two visits. First, the tooth is shaped and an impression is taken (with a temporary crown fitted while your permanent one is made); at the second visit, the finished crown or bridge is checked for fit and bite before being permanently cemented. Some sensitivity to temperature is normal in the first days. To help it last, avoid biting very hard foods directly on it and keep up regular brushing, flossing around the margins, and dental check-ups.

Tooth Extraction

When a tooth is too badly decayed, damaged, or infected to be saved with a filling, root canal, or crown, extraction may be recommended. Removing a problem tooth can relieve pain and stop infection from spreading to surrounding teeth or gum tissue.

  • Examination and X-ray to assess the tooth and surrounding bone
  • Performed under local anesthesia for comfort
  • Simple or surgical extraction, depending on the tooth's position and condition
  • Aftercare and pain-management advice provided
  • Options to discuss for replacing the tooth afterward (denture, bridge, or crown)

After an extraction, bite gently on the gauze provided to help a blood clot form, avoid rinsing, spitting, smoking, or drinking through a straw for the first 24 hours, and stick to soft, cool foods. This helps protect the healing socket and reduces the risk of complications such as dry socket.

Gum Treatment

Gum disease ranges from gingivitis (early, reversible gum inflammation caused by plaque buildup) to periodontitis (a more advanced stage that can affect the bone and tissue supporting your teeth if left untreated). Catching it early makes treatment simpler and more effective.

  • Assessment of bleeding, swollen, or receding gums
  • Professional scaling and cleaning to remove plaque and tartar below the gumline
  • Guidance on brushing and flossing technique to control plaque at home
  • Follow-up review to monitor gum health over time

Bleeding gums are not something to ignore, even if there's no pain โ€” it's usually the earliest sign of gum inflammation. The sooner it's addressed, the easier it is to treat.

Children's Dentistry

Children's teeth need care from the moment they appear. We provide dental services for children in a friendly, patient environment, and recommend a first dental visit around age 1, or as soon as the first tooth erupts, so we can monitor development and catch any issues early.

  • Children's dental examination
  • Fluoride treatment to strengthen enamel
  • Fissure sealants to protect chewing surfaces from decay
  • Pulpotomy for badly decayed baby teeth
  • Space maintainers when a baby tooth is lost early
  • Gentle fillings and extractions for children

Good habits started early โ€” regular brushing, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and routine check-ups every 6 months โ€” make a real difference to a child's long-term dental health and help them stay comfortable with dental visits as they grow.

Treatment Questions

A few more questions patients often ask about specific treatments. For general clinic questions, see our main FAQ on the home page.

A filling repairs a small area of decay. A crown covers and protects a tooth that's too damaged for a filling alone, such as after a large cavity or a root canal. A root canal treats infection deep inside the tooth's pulp when decay has spread that far โ€” it's usually followed by a crown to protect the treated tooth. Your dentist will recommend the least invasive option that will still restore the tooth properly.

Both correct misaligned teeth and bite issues, but they work differently. Self-ligating braces are fixed to the teeth and generally suit more complex cases, while clear aligners are removable and less noticeable but require discipline to wear as instructed. Which is more suitable depends on your specific bite and alignment, so this is assessed during a consultation.

Some adjustment period is normal with any new denture as your mouth gets used to it โ€” mild soreness or extra saliva in the first days or weeks is common and usually settles. A bridge, being fixed in place, tends to feel more like natural teeth once fitted. If discomfort persists beyond the initial adjustment period, come back for a fitting adjustment.

No โ€” scaling removes hardened plaque (tartar) that a toothbrush can't reach, which helps prevent gum disease and decay. It's normal for teeth to feel a little more sensitive or for gums to feel tender for a day or two afterward, especially if it's been a while since your last cleaning, but this settles quickly.
